{"id":7033,"date":"2014-04-10T09:46:05","date_gmt":"2014-04-10T09:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.protectia.eu\/inventor-japan-katsushige-nakamura\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T13:03:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T12:03:06","slug":"inventor-japan-katsushige-nakamura","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.protectia.eu\/en\/inventor-japan-katsushige-nakamura\/","title":{"rendered":"A prolific inventor from Japan: Katsushige Nakamura"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japan, as is well known, is one of the most highly capable countries of innovation, especially in the R&amp;D field.<br \/>\nToday for \u201cPatents world\u201d we include a video developed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wipo.int\/portal\/en\/index.html\"><strong>WIPO<\/strong><\/a> (World Intellectual Property Organization) about a prolific inventor who come right from Japan: <strong>Katsushige Nakamura, president of Mitaka Kohk,<\/strong> a small company with just 50 employees specialized in high-precision measurement tools.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/81098415\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/81098415\">Katsushige Nakamura, inventor, Japan<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/user2977389\">WIPO<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\">Vimeo<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As Mr Nakamura says, the company started in the spacial field, (has developed a succession of innovative astronomical observation devices, culminating in the <strong>development of a special camera that was used by NASA on board the Space Shuttle<\/strong>), moved on medical technology (enjoys a 50% share of the market for neurosurgical microscopes) and finally on solar instruments.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the camera technology used by the NASA, one of the most important achievement for the company was the development of the <strong>Space Pointer Cygnus neurosurgical microscope.<\/strong> Nakamura assures the idea behind the microscopes was simple:<em>\u201cIt\u2019s based on the principle of parallelograms, which is simple enough for a grade school kid to understand.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today he\u2019s working in technology for use in fluorescence microscopes that light up cancerous growths in three dimensions, and also technologies that can contribute to solar storage electricity generation.<br \/>\nHe has invented a <strong>solar-powered system which generates electricity and water<\/strong>. <em>\u201cI want to make the earth\u2019s deserts green\u201d<\/em>: this is the dream of this visionary inventor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The fundamental principal to create innovations and to protect them is the patenting system.<\/strong> In fact, in one year he created around<strong> 50 patents<\/strong>, but is not the number of patents that matters, but its outstanding quality. For Mr Nakamura, the competition is all about ideas.
