For this reason, we take the opportunity, from our offices in Santiago, to support this celebration and greet all Chileans and Spanishes in Chile.<\/p>\n<p>In this post, we will discuss about interesting news related to R&amp;D in Chile, <strong>which shows an expected increase in patent applications in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.protectia.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/i-d-Chile.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-6172\" alt=\"Nuevos centros de I+D en Chile\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protectia.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/i-d-Chile.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2014, four new R&amp;D centres are going to be installed in Chile through the attractive program of International Centres of Excellence (CEI).<br \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This program <\/strong>promoted by the Ministry of Economy and CORFO (public organization to promote entrepreneurship and innovation) and initiated in 2011,<strong> resulted in the arrival of the first group of public research centres to Chile<\/strong> (Fraunhofer of Germany; CSIRO of Australia; Inria Waganingen France and Holland).<strong><br \/> <\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>New r&amp;d centres n Chile<\/h3>\n<p>On this occasion, <strong>there were selected a few private foreign companies that already have R&amp;D centres in their own countries, in order to be installed in Chile.<\/strong> The selected centres are Telef\u00f3nica (ICT project and Smart Cities Development), GDF Suez Laborelec from France\/Belgium (renewable energies), Emerson Electric from United States (mining and metals) and U.S Pfizer (lung cancer research).<\/p>\n<p>The Chilean government\u2019s aim is to impulse R&amp;D and to <strong>convert Chile into a regional hub of innovation as element of development of the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Besides, links with university and research centres already existing are formed in order to promote the creation of technological cluster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patents are the best tool to recoup any investment done in research, and therefore it will be of special interest to protect inventions in Chile, <\/strong>especially considering the possibility to collaborate in the future with these new and innovative technological centres.
