Smart Bicycles: a technology revolution

In most of European cities, bicycle has come to be one of the main ways to get around.

The transport efficiency and the resulting quality of life are issues of great importance in our lives.

For this reason, a lot of cities around the world are experimenting a true technology revolution in transportation, implementing highly innovative solutions based on cutting edge technologies. One of them: the smart bicycles.

For our “patent world” section, we are going today to present an example of this great development, able to transform a simple and basic bike into a smart bicycle: “The Copenhagen Wheel”.

Patents meet magics: Mark Setteducati

In our constant will to bring to our public the most interesting, useful and curious patents of invention from all over the world, today we came across with an “unusual” but real interesting field applied to intellectual property: magic.

From the great “Inventors” portrait created by filmmaker and photographer David Friedman, today we propose a short video presenting how patents meet magics through the brilliant Mark Setteducati: magician, artist, magic toys and puzzles inventor.

As we will see in the video, Mark uses principles of mathematics and illusions to invent his puzzles and toys.

Satellite technology: patents example

Nowadays, if we stop to think about it, satellite technology is all around and have become the support of modern digital life, helping people to keep in touch (GPS technology) or monitoring the earth for any kind of changes.

Today we take inspiration for our “Patents world” section from a video developed by the EPO (European Patents Office) talking about this great and fascinating cientific field: satellite technology.

This is a huge industry that remains a “key strategic sector” for a lot of countries and which is the base of global communications, weather forecasting among many other vital aspects of modern life.

The inventor of video game: Ralph Bear

Nowadays video game techonology is so sofisticated that the world created are so accurated and real that we forgot how they looked the first home console systems.

Today we decided to go on a little travel inside the video game history, presenting the man who made possible for us today enjoying the modern video console: Ralph Bear, also known as the serial inventor who built the world’s first video game console.

The video has been developed by David Friedman, from the series of video portraits “Inventors”, for PBS Digital Studios.
